Gachagua's Urgent Warning: Ruto's Plot to Weaken Mt. Kenya Region

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has launched a scathing attack on President William Ruto, accusing him of orchestrating a calculated plan to destabilize the Mt. Kenya region. Gachagua claims the scheme involves first crippling the region’s political leadership before targeting its economic foundations.

Speaking at a  church at AIPCA Igembe North in Meru County, Gachagua alleged that the president, alongside influential operatives within State House, is systematically eroding the region’s leadership to eliminate any form of resistance.

He cautioned that if the political leaders are subdued, Mt. Kenya’s businesses will be left vulnerable, with no strong voices to defend them, potentially leading to economic instability.

CJ Martha Koome’s Ouster Part of a Bigger Plan

Gachagua further linked the alleged scheme to the push to remove Chief Justice Martha Koome, arguing that her ouster is not just an attack on the judiciary but part of a broader effort to weaken *Mt. Kenya’s influence.

> “Rais amepanga kufukuza Justice Martha Koome,” he roared. “Amepanga pale kortini na amehonga watu!”

He warned Ruto against going forward with the plan, telling the president to forget about stepping foot in Meru if he removes Koome.

> “Ukifukuza Martha Koome, usijaribu kukanyaga hapa Meru tena!”

Gachagua called upon the Meru community to resist what he described as a deliberate assault on their political and economic standing, emphasizing the crucial role they play in defending their rights.

The former DP also took aim at Meru leaders, including Members of Parliament, accusing them of being summoned and politically compromised to align with Ruto’s agenda.

He further slammed Ruto for failing to honor his campaign pledges  to miraa farmers, reminding the crowd that the president had promised to revitalize the trade by removing barriers that prevent farmers from earning better profits.

> “Si alikuwa anakuja hapa kwa gari anakula miraa akiwa juu?” he asked, triggering applause and laughter from the crowd.

What Next?

Gachagua’s remarks signal escalating political tensions between him and Ruto, raising questions about the future of Mt. Kenya’s political unity and its relationship with the presidency.
